RPI Panhellenic Council

Sigma Delta

La Sociedad de Damas, Sigma Delta is the only local sorority at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute that is recognized by the Panhellenic Association. Founded in 1996 at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York by 10 undergraduate women, Sigma Delta, recognizes the importance of self-development as a way to move towards creating a respectable and responsible image of our people.

We are a Multicultural Latin-based sorority with the purpose of promoting our five pillars: sisterhood, academics, community service, professionalism and multiculturalism. The essence of the Founders' vision is to encourage our sisters to grow inwards and outwards: Grow inwards as human beings, by finding their own moral objectives, and their own way to accomplish their goals without compromising what is important to them. Outwards, by educating themselves, serving as role models, and reaching to those in need with all the help they can muster. Each and every Sigma delta sister instills values such as honesty, compassion, self-pride, and hard work.

Even though we are a Latin-based sorority we welcome women of all cultural backgrounds. By promoting the understanding and sisterhood of women with different ethnic and religious background, Sigma Delta Sorority establishes lifelong friendships among the sisters and builds bridges across the Americas and the World.

From all the sisters of Sigma Delta, Welcome to RPI! We hope to meet you soon, and above all good luck in finding your home away from home.
